Reflections & Song Idea

Today’s Gospel reading is the source of the expression “the blind leading the blind.” Even though it can be cliche and sometimes be overused, if placed well within a song it is the sort of expression that can really connect with an audience.

The first reading from Sirach is very rich with metaphors. Read that one slowly a few times and see if a song idea emerges from contemplating what it is saying.

And then the psalm for today is about giving thanks to God. Perhaps you could just write a song titled “Thank You” and find interesting ways to describe all of the things, both great and small, that you are thankful for.

The Song Form

The song form chosen for this song is a 4/4 chord progression in the key of C Major that you might find in several different genres of Western music. Since Mardi Gras is happening this week, the rhythm of the audio has a bit of New Orleans flavor in it.

This song form is just to get you started. Feel free to use it as is or change the chords, rhythm, time signature, or key. The song you write should be your own, and this form is just to get you started.
